Euliss Propane & Young’s Fuel Service Unite to Restore Service After Hurricane Helene.

Watch The Story Of Resilience & Teamwork.

Hurricane Helene’s Impact & The Urgent Need For Propane As Winter Approaches.

Hurricane Helene, a catastrophic Category 4 storm, made landfall on September 26, 2024. The storm left a path of destruction across seven states—damaging or destroying over 100,000 homes in Western North Carolina alone. The destruction created an urgent need to reset propane systems to keep families safe and warm before winter.

“You see pictures on TV. You see pictures on the internet. But to see it in real life, it really puts things in perspective—how bad it really is.”

—Seth Smith, Euliss Propane Technician

Euliss Propane Team Members Traveled Almost 200 Miles To Help Restore Service.

After the hurricane, our team connected with SEPA (Southeast Propane Alliance) to see how we could help the community rebuild from the storm. Two of our team members, Jonathan Mitchell and Seth Smith, traveled 187 miles to Bakersville, North Carolina, to help Young’s Fuel Service reconnect propane systems. They faced many challenges, including storm-damaged roads, but they were determined to get homes back up and running with fuel.

Jonathan and Seth worked tirelessly for two days. During their trip, they reset 16 residential propane tanks, making sure each one was safely installed. That way, families could access the propane they needed for heat, hot water, and other essentials.

“We were devastated by the impact Hurricane Helene had on Western North Carolina. When Stan Young contacted SEPA (Southeast Propane Alliance) for assistance, Euliss welcomed the opportunity to bring our specific skill set to help those hardest hit in Bakersville.”
